*Richard-CD fantastically captures two gorgeous birds in this wonderful photograph. What makes Merops apiaster stand out even more is the depth of field which pushes the birds to the forefront, as well as the intense clarity and colours. The effect of it all coming together can be greatly appreciated here. ( Suggested by Deadly-Tea-Party and Featured by 3wyl )

Almost the perfect bird shot. Great out of focus background. wonderful action with the right bird launching of the perch. You have good light on the subject, this brings out the wonderful colours. A great perch for the two birds without any other clutter in the shot. All the basics for a classic wildlife bird shot.

Specifically good is that you have light on both birds eyes. A little bit more depth of focus might have helped the sharpness even more. Well done. I would love to see the larger image but it seems that there is a bit of room to increase the sharpness even more.

The one bending over looks like he's saying to the photographer, "What? You never seen birds like us before? Jeez..."

Wow - what a contrast between the two birds! And what a wonderful capture of colour. How long was your lens to get this amazing picture?
